Polytetraflouroethylene (TFE) and PVDF both are on allocation.
Teflon product PTFE (TFE) and Kynar-PVDF manufacturing requires a mineral called Fluorspar which is mined in Mongolia and China. The world need for this mineral has increased significantly, as well as the supply has tightened. PTFE materials have high temperature resistance, excellent chemical resistance and really low co-efficient of friction (slick) and is utilised throughout dozens of applications from non-stick fry kitchenware to ptfe tape for home use. This specific mineral is a important raw materials inside the manufacturing of fluoropolymers, fluorolubricants and a lot of refrigerants. This rise in demand combined with general shortage of raw materials is mainly responsible for a dramatic price increase (almost double over the last year), shortages, and we expect these two factors to stay in affect in the near future.
